Mooring Reports

Arrays of moored sensors supported by toroidal surface buoys have been deployed and recovered off the Washington coast as part of ECOHAB PNW.

In general, these arrays measure currents and water properties, including temperature, conductivity, nitrate and fluorescence, as well as water samples for plankton and PAR. Arrays were located at the mouth of the Strait of Juan de Fuca, on the southwest edge of the Juan de Fuca eddy and off the Washington coast in the upwelling zone. These reports provide details of the mooring operation, including locations, deployment periods and sensors supported by each array.

Note that the Washington mooring was moved closer to the Washington coast in 2005 and 2006. Also, an additional mooring (subsurface) was deployed in shallower water near the Washington coast in 2005 and 2006.
