Teacher at Sea Program 2006
The final ECOHAB-PNW cruise will feature two teachers at sea: Denis Costello from North High School in Torrance, California (Los Angeles County) and Christine Muir from Woodside Priory School in Portola Valley, California (San Francisco Bay area). These two very experienced teachers have over 15 years of classroom teaching between them, and are both well trained in the marine
sciences having received undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of South Carolina, University of Southern California and the University of Delaware. With on-line journal entries as well as candid pictures and videos, they will be the liaisons between the onboard research scientists and the general public. Their voyage aboard the R/V Thomas G. Thompson, one of the largest oceanographic research vessels in the U.S. Academic Fleet will also feature question and answer sessions during which students can e-mail their specific questions to the scientists and teachers about their research and lives aboard the vessel.
